Celebrity Recommended YA Reads
by Kristine
While driving home one morning I heard the amazing Dr. Ibram X. Kendi on NPR talking about raising kids and books. Of course, my ears perked up. Dr. Kendi recommended a handful of books for young adults (YA) and the idea for a display was born. I did some research into other well-known people who had recommended YA books and I found some great titles recommended by a cool mix of people. The display, called “Recommended By…” debuted earlier in the week in the YA section of the Library and I hope that patrons can find some inspiration for their next great book.
Here are a few of the recommendations included in the display.
Ibram X. Kendi recommends The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo
Reese Witherspoon recommends The Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley
Makenzie Foy recommends The Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Jason Reynolds recommends A Song Below Water by Bethany C. Morrow
Yara Shahidi recommends When They Call You a Terrorist: A Story of Black Lives Matter and the Power to Change the World by Patrisse Khan-Cullors
Kit Harrington recommends 1984 by George Orwell
George R.R. Martin recommends The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
Margaret Cho recommends Anna K. by Jenny Lee
Megan Rapinoe recommends Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender
