Social Justice Task Force at EPL
by Mary Beth
The Easton Public Library has a recently formed Social Justice Task Force committed to proactively supporting the Library’s Vision Statement: “To be the welcoming heart of our community, where all people can find a safe space to learn, discover, create, connect, and share ideas.”
Taking a page from the American Library Association, the Public Library Association, the Connecticut Library Association, and countless other libraries across Connecticut and the United States, the Task Force will focus on addressing the core principles of social justice: access to resources, equity, participation, diversity, and human rights.
The Task Force will strive to offer programs, materials, and services that further diversity, equity, and inclusion in a safe and welcoming space. The Task Force will also focus on Library Staff development that addresses training on these principles, all in an effort to better understand one another and the public we serve.
The Task Force is planning a Human Library project for late spring/early summer. Find out more by visiting this website. Stay tuned for more information!
