The 2022 Nutmeg Book Award Nominees are Here!!

The 2022 Nutmeg Nominees are here! Not familiar with The Nutmeg Book Award? It’s Connecticut’s literary award for children and young adult literature, sponsored by the Connecticut Library Association and the Connecticut Association of School Librarians. A committee of Connecticut children’s librarians and school library media specialists read hundreds of titles each year to make their selection of the nominees, so you know these books are a great go-to when looking for quality literature for your children.
The Award is separated into four divisions: Elementary (grades 2-3), Intermediate (grades 4-6), Middle School (grades 7-8), and High School (grades 9-12), which makes the nominees easy to browse. They’re prominently displayed at the Library and circulate regularly, especially during the summer months. For students at Helen Keller Middle School, a Nutmeg Nominee is required summer reading.
Every April, students vote for their favorite, either at the Library or in school, and the winning title in each division is announced to much fanfare on May 15th.
Take a look at this year’s nominees here. For children and young adults in grades 2-12, it’s a great time to pick up a copy or two (or three) and start reading. After all, they get to vote for the winner!
