Normal: A Mother and Her Beautiful Son by Magdalena Newman

Available to Easton residents in print

Reviewed by: Lynn

This book is an inspiring memoir of perseverance, hope, and love. It is the story of Nathaniel Newman, who was born with a severe form of Treacher Collins Syndrome, a cranio-facial condition. It is also the story of his parents, Magdalena and Russel, and the challenges they overcame while fighting to make Nathaniel's life as normal as possible. What stayed with me most after reading this book was Magdalena's fierce love for her son, and Nathaniel's strength, sense of humor, and strong sense of self. Kids will enjoy the young readers' version, Normal: One Kid's Extraordinary Journey, written mainly in Nathaniel's voice.

Families are invited to join us this Saturday, 4/25, at 3:00pm, for a virtual discussion of the two books. Register on our Events Calendar at https://www.eventkeeper.com/code/ekform.cfm?curOrg=EASTONPL&curMode=ADMIN&curHelp=&curID=425350&tEvt=6373826.

A Young Reader's Edition is also available in print, written by Magdalena and Nathaniel.
